Days before today's FA CUP tie, Jabar was handed the task of taking charge of today's team selection and tactics, assisted by Ismadi. Unfortunately due to circumstances, Jabar did'nt get to attend today's game but Ismadi stepped up and gave the game plan as they have discussed. Our normal WAGs were not around today, but Khai and Ayat brought new Jaws supporters to have some motivation by the sidelines. As Reen is not available, Khai's companion, Nora took over the camera duties and we really appreciate the help and thank her once again for helping out. Back to the pitch, Ismadi named a line-up designed to attack Baron as much as possible. Jaws were feeling confident silently, perhaps not wanting to put on excess pressure on one another. It is a cup game that Jaws knew that we need to fight as a team, especially after losing to Baron FC 5-2 in a recent friendly. Reen told me last week, perhaps a rearranged cup game might be 'a blessing in disguise'.

1st Half JAWS XI: Mamat, Kiran (C), Darryl, Chee Hui, Shim, Ming, Ayat, Syahrul, Zul, Wandy, Khai

Ismadi sprung a suprise line up, putting Ayat at left midfield and Chee Hui at rightback. Wandy was deployed behind Khai as supporting striker while the rest were put in their usual positions. But even then, Jaws didnt showed any real emotions and looked focus on their job at hand. From the kickoff, Wandy did the unthinkable: shooting straight from kickoff and he scored the fastest ever goal, perhaps in the history of ESPZEN FA CUP! Baron's keeper was caught napping and Wandy certainly showed class and quick thinking by scoring an audacious goal at kickoff! 1-0 to JAWS! After the restart, Baron tried to equalise through a freekick just outside the penalty box and the ball ended up in the net! However, it was disallowed and Zul got a yellow card for moving before the referee's whistle. Fortunately, there was no replay as Jaws wall cleared and the danger. After a few minutes later, Khai found Ayat outside the penalty box and Jaws top scorer intelligently pushed the ball forward and sprinted pass Baron's defence to stun their keeper one-on-one. Being a man on fire, Ayat scored with a simple placed shot to make it 2-0 to JAWS! Baron got a goal back by a freekick from an acute angle and Mamat failed to prevent it from flying over him and into the net. 2-1! At this moment, it's the crucial time to decide the fate of the game. Khai injured his knee minutes later and had to be replaced by Hissham. Khai was pressing their defence so well until he got injured! Ming switched to left midfield as Hissham took the right flank. Ayat was restored back to his usual position: centre forward. Another 10-15 minutes passed under the hot sun, both teams battled hard to gain more initiative in the game. Then, Ming spotted Hissham on the right just in the box and produced an accurate cross field pass to him! Hissham composed himself while a defender closed down on him, took a touch and rammed it into goal by the nearpost! 3-1 to JAWS! BAZLI FOR SYAHRUL. AYYUB FOR WANDY. Just before the half time whistle, Ming made a run down the left and was brought down in the box. Sadly, the referee waved play on! Half time: 3-1 to JAWS.

2nd Half JAWS XI: Mamat, Kiran(C), Darryl, Chee Hui, Shim, Hilmi, Syahrul, Hissham, Shaq, Ayyub, Din

During the 2nd half, Jaws' first opportunity to score went to Shaq when Din made a telling through ball to him to go one-on-one with the keeper, a similar chance that Shaq got last game! This time, Shaq opted to go for the far post before getting nearer to the keeper and his shot hit the bar and out of play! Unlucky! Hilmi and Syahrul were running the midfield with authority as Jaws continued to create more chances to score more goals. Hissham was really stretching Baron's defence line as he was constantly a threat down the right flank. Kiran and Darryl improved thier communication and managed to keep Baron's dangerman quiet. Chee Hui and Shim were solid at fullback, rarely surrendering possession in our own half. Kiran got into the act attacking as he made his trademark upfield runs. Doing a quick one-two with Ayyub, Kiran managed to go clear on goal with just the goalie to beat. With the composure and sharpness of a striker, Jaws Captain placed his shot at bottom right and made the score 4-1!Then, Shaq found space down the left and beared down on goal, instead of shooting, he laid off for Ayyub in the centre just inside the box. With a well placed left footed shot, Ayyub scored to make it 5-1 to JAWS! Confidence soared at this time but Jaws were not ready to close shop as yet.  Players celebrated with much joy but Jaws went back to focus mood again after the restart. Then, it was Syahrul's turn to attack as he continue to look for his Maiden goal for Jaws. Again, Ayyub produced another through ball past Baron's defence line to find Syahrul, with their keeper rushing out. As the ball rolled, Syahrul toe-poked the ball past the keeper into the bottom right to make it 6-1! Jaws were passing the ball very well and varying their play at an optimal level! All departments were showing their committed discipline in attack and defence. Minutes later, Hissham found Hilmi just outside the box and Jaws' 'Daddy' squared the ball to Ayyub in the box who simple side footed the ball past their helpless keeper. 7-1! AYAT FOR HISSHAM. MING FOR SYAHRUL. WANDY FOR DIN. ZUL FOR CHEE HUI. BAZLI FOR DARRYL. Baron pulled another goal back with a cross shot that fooled everyone including Mamat to make it 7-2. Just before the final whistle, Ayat found his way into the box from the left and squared to Ming. After a long goal drought for the Jaws winger, Ming buried his shot in the bottom right ferociously to make the score a stunning 8-2! Final score: 8-2 to Jaws and we are through to next round!

During the postgame teamtalk, Jaws shared their delight and acknowledgment of the management's contribution and players' improving performances. Being a division 8 team, it was simply fantastic to beat a division 5 team in Baron FC. With no disrespect to Baron FC, they started with 10 men and played the 1st half with 8 men at one time, despite fielding a full team during the 2nd half, Jaws proved to be unstoppable with strong focus and determination. Special mention for Bazli who selflessly went out of the school to collect 4 of our soccer balls. It was really nice to have Diki, Is and Rusdi to attend our game despite not playing. To conclude our day, Darryl and Kiran brought out the birthday cake to suprise Is for his 22nd birthday! So what made our day so wonderful? TEAMWORK. With the management committed to Jaws planning, players with passion and pure determination playing as instructed showed what we can achieve when we work as a unit. The cohesiveness of Jaws has improved to yet another notch, with Syahrul, Mamat, Khai all showing more of why they were brought into the Jaws Family. Everyone who turned up today proved that they deserved to be wearing the Jaws jersey and that we are just one special team in our very own ways. Not only we fight well, we are playing intelligent football with all players showing that they know what's their roles and responsibilities. Today is a proof to all Jaws players who didnt think that we can learn and overcome obstacles together. Today will be on the minds of several Jaws players in the coming weekdays at work or school. Today, we showed what JAWS SC is really made of. As the Gaffer, besides having to remind everyone that our race for the league is still a long way to go, i just want everyone in Jaws to know ( Even those who were not around today) : I AM PROUD OF EVERYONE OF YOU. You guys know who you are, be it a player, a coach, a supporter, a mentor for players and of course Reen our Lady boss. Enjoy this victory and get back to business again next Sunday! CHEERS!

(PS. Khai may you rest well and recover quick from you injury!)
